Semester Project- The Psalm 139:14 Project

For my semester project I plan to use a series I've been teaching my students and use an instagram page in order to bring the full message to life. I teach young girls about Jesus and I always use Psalm 139:14 as an example to show them that however they were made physically it was made perfect in God's eyes.

As a woman who grew up with body shaming issues almost anywhere I went, I've learned the importance as to how we need to bring up a future generation of girls and boys to look at themselves and see the unique individuality they were given. I plan to take pictures of some of my friends and co workers with signs of what was said to them about their appearance that has stuck with the, negatively.

I also plan to include the future generation of girls that are watching how we view ourselves. My friends 8 month old baby girl Noelia will have a spot to represent she is the future that can change this cycle of body shaming.

I've mainly been inspired by tattooed art and music as art is my minor

  1. Body image and acceptance is important for the health of a young women. Yes, teenagers are the most vulnerable when it comes to body appearance and how people perceive them. I remember when I was in high school I was bullied because of my height. I think nowadays, I get comments about that. I trie to ignore those comments, but when it is repeated often they are annoying. So, I can related to those girls who are going through such experience.
Self acceptance is very important, through religion is a very good approach to communicate that message. When you talk about tattoos and music, are you going to phases that have the message?
